I don't really know, but I'll give these 3 points that should help you decide if PseudoSaturn is for you: A. I ran without PseudoSaturn on my original PAL Saturn for around 10 years with absolutely no trouble. You're pulling out a disc, and inserting a disc whilst the drive mechanism is in motion. This feels like it should increase the wear and tear on the drive motor. I'm not qualified to say whether it does or doesn't. By 'modding' as described above, you can run the swap trick once to boot up the PseudoSaturn disc, then flash your cart and you won't need to swap trick ever again. The additional wear and tear of a single swap trick is never going to harm a drive. If you're going the Pseudo route, always check as a couple games require a patch (super easy to use and found on the Pseudo Saturn page). Panzer Dragoon Zwei and Saga are the most known examples. As a new Saturn owner and backup copy player myself, Psuedo Saturn is a good start. Making your own from an action replay can take a few tries but it's easier and cheaper than buying a solder set and learning to solder well. Think cell license. I have tried a few dozen games and most work flawlessly and when they don't you either need a better blank CD-R or a better ISO image.
